EVALUATION - Question 4
The thriller genre has a very broad audience. Those interested tend to be between the ages of 15 and 60 of both genders however it strongly depends on the sub genre of the thriller. This is because different age groups and genders are intrigued by different things. For example, a romantic thriller may be more engaging for a female around the age of 20/30. This is quite generic as not all females are interested in gentle viewing however that target audience is more likely than a teenage male for instance.
My subgenre is a combination of a mystery/crime/psychological thriller however i think it is a psychological thriller more than anything as they often incorporate elements from the mystery and drama genre anyway. This subgenre is very often aimed towards those over the age of 15 of both genders. It is recognised globally and therefore target audiences tend to be universal. Ethnicity-wise they are never really specific to a certain race. Below are the dvd covers of 'Taken 2' and 'Black Swan'. The age certificate for both is 15.

I don't think my thriller needs to be specific to one gender however i do feel females are more likely to relate due to the mother/child-related storyline. The idea behind the chosen age group for my target audience is that the contents of the film may be somewhat confusing or distressing for someone below the age of 16. Older people are more likely to engage in the storyline and try to work out the mystery however anyone above 40 may not be interested in becoming a part of the film by trying to work it out for themselves. I don't feel like it is more suited to someone with a certain background, race or living location therefore i chose for it to be very broad.
This is a facebook profile i created as a display example of a specific member of my target audience. She is 26 years of age which is nearly half way between our target age group. She fits the position because of her age and social class. Her gender, background, race and location doesn't need to fit a specific requirement.
